My Secret Sauce

Five aspects that make up my human capital

  • Quick learner
    • From a young age I have always been a creative thinker and quick learner. I could pick up things and easily figure them out. One time I even hooked up the house phone lines in every room of our home when I was about nine years old, after being shown how to just once by my uncle.
  • Deep thinker and Compassionate
    • I have an appreciation for genuine, real people. Those who are true to themselves and what they believe in. "Let the world know you as you are, not as you think you should be, because sooner or later if you are posing, you will forget the pose, and then where are you?" I also enjoy helping others and finding solutions to problems.
  • Hardworking and High Energy
    • I push myself and work until the job is done. I am not one to put things off and I'm a firm believer in not putting off until tomorrow what you can accomplish today.
  • Loyal
    • I am an extremely loyal person to those I love and feel the same in return.
  • Dreamer and Determined
    • I manifest my own destiny! When I want something badly, I go after it indefinitely. I know what my dreams are and there isn't a person in the world who can change my mind when I have my heart set on something.

Interviews

This is my sister, Heather. We grew up very close and she is my best friend. I took away that I'm a good people reader, tech savvy, and very emotionally stable.

My mom is camera shy so I had to do a voice interview. I was actually impressed at how many of the same human capital aspects my mom pointed out as I did in my five. She touched on a lot of things that I mentioned in my list.

This is one of my very good friends from high school. Austin has known me for at least 10 years! I took away that he seems me as compassionate, dedicated, and responsible.

A phone interview from my dad because I was able to get with him in person. I took away that I am skilled with figuring things out and a driven individual.

These are four people who know me best. My other good friend live/vacationing out of state (for their spring break) at the moment so I was unable to interview them with the time difference  Once I am able to get a video interview I will upload it as well. :)

Thanks for watching!

Reflection

As I reflect on the differences, I really could not find many. I feel that I see myself very similarly to how those closest to be view me. I do think my interviewees are correct about what they said. The only corrections I would make to my list was adding what my sister said about being a good people reader.

Reading Reflection | Chapter 10

Kuratko Chapter 10 (Marketing Challenges for Entrepreneurial Ventures)

Questions being answered regarding Chapter 10:

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

1. While reading Chapter 10, there were many sections that stood out to me. I personally enjoyed learning about the essential elements for a successful presentation to venture capitalist. This section really goes into depth about the qualities team members must have, as well as the necessities that the product, business plan, and market must have in order to work.

2. I found this article to be very clear and concise. I really didn't have any section that was confusing to me. I enjoyed it!

3. If I were able to ask the author two questions:

  1. What would you say is the most important aspect of capital markets?
  2. What are the best ways to master venture capitalism?

I would ask these questions in order to hear the perspective of an intelligent writer and also to learn about the author's ventures that lead him to the place he is today.

4. I don't have anything in particular that I felt the author was wrong about. I really enjoyed this chapter and learning about the venture capital market.

Idea Napkin No. 2 | Feedback Memo

Questions being answered:

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).

3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?

4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.

5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?

1. As I've mentioned in my first idea napkin post, my name is Rebecca Marra, I'm incredibly passionate about yoga and overall nutritional wellness of the body. My company is Rare Earth Organics Cafe. Rare Earth Organics is 100% organic, plant-based cafe that specializes in gourmet cuisines. I want to bring a restaurant to the market that offers creative plant-based cuisine that is both rich in flavor and of course, nutrient dense.

2. Rare Earth Organics is 100% organic, plant-based cafe that specializes in gourmet cuisines. I want to bring a restaurant to the market that offers creative plant-based cuisine that is rich in flavor and nutrient dense at the same time.

3. I live in the area known as Fishhawk. Fish hawk, Florida is a growing community right outside of Tampa that has most everything you would find in a small city; grocery stores, banks, doctor offices, homes, parks, nature trails, water parks, some chain restaurants, fast food places and so on. Being a community full of families who strive to live a healthy fitness lifestyle, food is a big issue. Fast food places (such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Sonic), along with ice cream places, and a few chain restaurant that let's just say are..."eh", make up the food options in this community.

4. Many people are becoming more conscious of their health and want to do what they can to improve it. Rare Earth Cafe fits into the lifestyle of those wanting to look and feel their best.

5. Many aspects set Rare Earth Organics apart. First, being plant-based and healthy (being the only one in the area). Also, this cafe will offer a unique environment that focuses on supporting nutritional wellness and sustainability for every person who walks into the door. Rare Earth Organics will ensure to select the finest organic ingredients while also supporting local farmers, sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly products.

Each of these elements fit together and cater to those who want to live a healthy lifestyle and nourish the body. Being a plant-based eater, I personally find it very difficult to find places to enjoy in this community that offer plant-based, vegan, healthy foods. It seems that unless I go to a grocery store myself and put some ingredients together, I am so out of luck. With this personal unmet need, I can't help but believe there may be others out there that would consider the restaurant options in this area as an unmet need for them as well. Whether one is Vegan, Vegetarian, or just wants some healthier options, I feel this is truly an unmet need in the Tampa bay area, particularly in the community of Fish hawk.

Feedback Memo

Most of the feedback I received was positive, as many students can relate to wanting healthier/dietary restriction options even in their areas and on campus. Although I don't have five that came up, one thing that was mentioned that I am highly considering incorporating into my business is having a few healthy grass-fed meat options in order to attract more customers and be more diverse. My cafe will be mostly plant-based, and offer the highest quality in every aspect of the food ingredients, whether it be a vegan dish or a meat option. That is how I will incorporate the feedback into this idea napkin.
